I originally started this blog as a means to try to break out of a writer's block. I called it "The Big Secret" because I intended it to be for my eyes only, totally self-indulgent, whatever I could think of to make myself sit down and write.
That didn't last long ...
Fast forward a year, I'm back doing WW for about the fourth time in my adult life, and I decided to start posting all the diet and WW tips and tidbits I've collected over the years. I figured there were plenty I had forgotten that may be helpful to me now, plus I'd be sharing them with others.
I kept the same blog and the same name, at least for now, because the quote I based it on (Big Secret #1, below) is just as suitable for the dieting life as for the writing life.
As a bit of a disclaimer I need to say that many of these tidbits have come from the internet and I've tried to attribute them to the source whenever possible. Many, however, are written by me personally, based on my experiences doing WW over the years. The internet derived tidbits are from many versions of WW, so point counts may -- and probably will -- vary according to the plan you're doing. (In other words, some may adjust for fiber over 4 grams as in the original Points program, etc.) So always re-figure points, especially if something doesn't seem quite right to you.
For those not doing WW but interested in calories rather than points, a rough guide is 1 point equals about 40-60 calories.
